Screen Test 1

It's back to (art) School for me soon! I've signed up for an evening class in screenprinting at the University of Brighton for the Autumn and Spring terms. I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty again and hopefully having a chance to experiment and maybe produce a few prints. The class starts in October and runs for 20 weeks in total so I'm trying to be geared up for it before the course starts and have some work ready to go.

The image above is a test piece I did today adapted from the Beat Box image I just finished off in colour yesterday. I re-did this as a B & W image first which in itself was a good exercise for me and then I made it into a simple 2 colour image that overlaps to produce a third colour. This is really just a test piece but I quite like the way it turned out and I'm very much looking forward to doing some printing for real. As ever, Click the image to see it bigger...

The Circus comes to town!

I managed to squeeze a bit of time in this week to work with friend and fellow illustrator Linzie Hunter ( www.linziehunter.co.uk) on a collobrative illustration for Costa Rican art/design/culture magazine Revista Collectiva. The theme for this issue is the Circus but you probably already guessed that.

The Art of Copying

One of six images I've just finished working on for the Design And Artists Copyright Society (DACS) for a publication about reproduction rights. The booklet comes out a bit later in the year so I hope to show a few more of the images then.
